WHAT WE DO
Not before time, both the Civil Partnership Act 2004 and the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 provided same sex couples with the same protection in the event of the breakdown of their relationships as heterosexual couples had previously enjoyed. We regularly advise same sex couples on protecting their assets at the commencement of a relationship, whether in the form of a Pre-Civil Partnership Registration Agreement or a Pre-Nuptial Agreement, and regularly advise same sex couples on the dissolution or divorce process and upon the resolution of the financial aspects alongside that process.
Issues of Parental Responsibility for children, however, can be slightly more complicated for same sex couples and we regularly advise our same sex clients on this.
