WHAT WE DO
Some of those difficulties require urgent intervention whilst others require a careful and considered solution.
We can help if you are experiencing difficulties in your relationship, whether that be by way of an urgent court application, a more long term solution or by drawing on our contacts with appropriately qualified third parties who can offer therapy and assistance.
All relationships experience difficulties. Being able to address those difficulties openly and honestly when they arise can be instrumental in resolving them going forwards. Using our contacts with Marriage Guidance Counsellors and Couple Therapists we are able to put our clients in touch with individuals who can assist in providing an open and non-judgemental environment in which to address those issues.
Like Pre-Nuptial Agreements but entered into after the marriage ceremony, Post-Nuptial Agreements can provide for the division of assets if a marriage comes to an end. Provided certain conditions are fulfilled, the Court will be reluctant to interfere with the terms of Post-Nuptial Agreements that have been concluded between parties freely and willingly with the benefit of independent advice and financial disclosure. We have significant expertise in advising our clients on what form a Post-Nuptial Agreement should take and how to maximise the chances of the document being enforceable in the unlikely event of a marriage breakdown at some point in the future.
Although we are seasoned litigators, we can help you understand what out of court processes are available for resolving disputes. We regularly advise clients upon solutions proposed in mediation and regularly represent clients in arbitration. There are advantages and disadvantages to each of these alternative processes which we can consider carefully with you.
Disputes over children can be the most emotionally charged issue in family law. Whether you are involved in a disagreement over the time a child spends with each parent, a dispute over a schooling issue, where a child will live or any other area of parental responsibility, we will be able to help you. We are dedicated to providing empathetic advice and representation to assist our clients with any dispute regarding children.
There should be no place for abuse or violence in the family home or in any relationship. Incidents of abuse need to be dealt with quickly and comprehensively to avoid the possibility of their happening again. Children, in particular, should be shielded from any incidents between their parents which can be harmful to their emotional and psychological welfare and their development into adulthood.
It is imperative to obtain advice as soon as possible if you have suffered abuse at the hands of your spouse or partner. We regularly advise clients on the possibility of obtaining Court Orders preventing that abuse from continuing under Part IV of the Family Law Act 1996 and work closely with our clients in building the strongest possible case in support of those orders.
